We lost our beloved Chewy (Pitbull) to Cushings disease last Spring. She was so intelligent and sweet and it left a huge hole in our hearts when she died-we decided not to get another dog for awhile. I began looking at the websites that feature dogs in kill shelters and it just about broke our hearts to see the plight of these animals. I did attempt to adopt a dog from Tennessee that had a heart tugging story but the private rescurer turned me down because we didn't have a fence! Then I saw Luckys picture in the paper and the wheels started turning -his story was another of those sad stories that are so prevalent! We went to the shelter (before going in I had to compose myself and dry the tears) to see the Pitbulls and liked everyone we saw- but Lucky sitting in his kennel looking dejected touched my heart! We filled out the app. in Wal-Marts parking lot and took it back on the way home. My husband and I talked on the way home and decided to go back my next day off work and
play with the 4 dogs we liked the most-but in my mind I already knew who I wanted! A couple of days later I just blurted out to my husband-I want Lucky!- He agreed and its been nothing but good so far! We've had him a week today and he just bloomed-he is so loving and sweet and well behaved! This is a dog that was found roaming the streets in Madison Wisconsin-face bloody and skin hanging-by some miracle an Angel found him and paid for his medical bills and he went to several shelters before coming to Copper Country Humane Society to find us! WE are the lucky ones!
